• Community Representatives Sought for Council’s Natural Resources and Floodplain Management Committees and Coastal Management Committee
  
  Are you interested in the sustainable management of natural resources and want to actively participate in the decision making process in relation to the management of Shoalhaven’s estuaries, coastal zone, rivers, floodplains and bushlands?
  
  If you are a member of a Community Consultative Body, User Group, Conservation Group, Primary Production Industry Group, or have expertise in Natural Resource Management, you are invited to apply to be a member of Council’s Natural Resource and Floodplain Management Committees and/or the Coastal Management Committee.
  
  The six Committees include:
  • Shoalhaven River Natural Resource and Floodplain Management Committee;
  • Jervis Bay Natural Resource and Floodplain Management Committee;
  • Central Shoalhaven Natural Resource and Floodplain Management Committee;
  • Southern Shoalhaven Natural Resource and Floodplain Management Committee;
  • Far South Shoalhaven Natural Resource and Floodplain Management Committee; and
  • Coastal Management Committee.

  All nominations should reach Council no later than 5pm Friday 28th November 2008
  Your application will be assessed by a selection panel based on the information provided and your appointment to the selected Committee will be confirmed by letter.

• A new draft City-wide LEP is being prepared that will control development and guide planning decisions made by Council and will incorporate the strategic direction outlined in the Nowra Bomaderry Structure Plan and other strategy plans. This document is currently a work in progress.
   
• Shoalhaven City Council is preparing a comprehensive management plan for the entire coastal zone of the City, stretching 165 km from Shoalhaven Heads to North Durras.
  
  Council’s coastal management responsibilities include land use zoning, development assessment, management of parks and reserves, beach safety, emergency services, vegetation management and waste management.

• Shoalhaven City Council is a member of the Southern Councils Group. One of the important issues currently affecting this group is the state of the Princes Highway. PHocus is a taskforce  working together to expedite improvements to the Highway.
