An easy, short road ride from Kangaroo Valley township following the Kangaroo River towards its source. The outward journey climbs gently through the dairy farms and patches of thick forest, overlooking this beautiful river, with spectacular views of the sandstone escarpment above the narrow valley. Once you reach Upper Kangaroo River settlement, the adventurous with mountain bikes will be tempted to explore further.

0.0 Leave Kangaroo Valley shops on the cyclepath (starts
at the School).
1.5 Cyclepath ends - Hampden bridge.
1.7 Pioneer Museum, Tourist Information Centre on left.
2.4 Turn RIGHT - [UPPER KANGAROO RIVER] - bitumen
road.
11.0 Gravel road for 1 km.
12.0 Gerringong Creek Rd on right with a 20 m ford crossing
the Kangaroo River.

*12.1 Upper Kangaroo River Hall. End of good quality,
formed road. River access for the public, swimming hole, picnic tables. Ride returns by same route.
24.2 Back at Kangaroo Valley shops.

Public Toilets: Kangaroo Valley (Showgrounds, next to
Ambulance Station).
Shops/facilities/Water: Kangaroo Valley (Showgrounds has
shelter, showers)
Bike Shops, emergency spares: Closest at Bomaderry - see details p.6.
Variations on this route/alternative activities:
*1. The road continues beyond here for approximately 5 km to service the farms and a flora & fauna reserve
(part of Budderoo National Park), 4.3 kms from the Hall. It would be impassable in wet weather (there are two rough, rocky and wet creek crossings before you get to the Reserve) and a mountain bike is essential even in fine
weather.
