Aboriginal Community Development
Identify needs, in consultation with the community, then develop and promote programmes and services to meet these needs. Provide an indigenous perspective and advice in the establishment of new community services in the Shoalhaven area. |

Under
the provisions of the Local Government Act, the Companion Animals
Act and Impounding Animals Act, Council has the responsibility for animal and stock control in
public places. To carry out this responsibility Council employs
three
Animal Control Officers who patrol the city and respond to
complaints/calls about dogs, cats and stock.
Council sponsors two Family Day Care schemes, at Nowra and Ulladulla. The scheme provides home-based care for children in carer's homes. Carers are selected by Councill in accordance with government regulations. The carers nurture and develop each child's learning potential in small group settings and cater for children from birth to twelve years old.
Parents
can make flexible arrangements for full, part-time, occasional or
after-school care, including vacation care.

service programmes in relation to the Community Plan and
community group needs. Assist the establishment of new
services in Shoalhaven.

The
Ranger Service pays particular attention to breaches of
environmental laws and, where appropriate, proceeds to prosecute
offenders. Another major role for the service relates to the
protection of Council's property and assets. Rangers also work
closely with the NSW Police Service, Emergency Services and
other government agencies.
Council
operates the Women's Rest Centre in Stewart Place car park,
adjacent to the Bus Terminus, for the convenience of residents
and visitors to our city. the centre provides baby feeding
and changing space, toilet facilities and allows older people to
rest in comfort while waiting for transport.
Identify,
in consultation with young people and service providers within
the city, the needs of our youth; then develop and promote programmes
and services to meet these needs.
There is also The Shoalhaven Youth Advisory Committee which provides young people with an avenue to voice their beliefs & concerns, to demonstrate their worth as part of the community, & in doing so provides experience in local government & community affairs”
